Juneau World Quest
The Juneau World Quest is our annual fund raiser and generally occurs in January. It is a team game testing contestants' knowledge of world affairs, geography, history, culture, flags, sports, current events, world organizations, countries and more. Each team consists of between four and eight players. Anyone can form a team. For instance, a business may field its employees; a civic organization enlists its members; or a casual group of friends decides to compete. Because alcohol is served at the event, minors unaccompanied by their parent or guardian may not participate.
There are approximately 60 questions. Each question is presented orally and visually. Team members have a maximum of a minute to confer and reach agreement. The team having the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, one or more elimination rounds is held.
The event also includes a multi-ethnic dinner, silent auction and dessert auction.

Model United Nations
Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization's agenda. While playing their roles as ambassadors, student "delegates" make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure - all in the interest of mobilizing "international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world.
The Juneau World Affairs Council sponsors and funds a Juneau-Douglas High School team to travel to the regional and national Model U.N. programs.
